How Sweet It Is...

The challenge this year at the Beaconsfield Quilt Show was to interpret a song of verse from a poem. My selection was the song, "How Sweet It Is" (to be loved by you) which I dedicated to my husband. After returning from the Machine Quilters Exposition this year I was very inspired by the intricate quilting of Sharon Schamber and her use of contrasting thread to create a look of solid fabric. My attempt is subtle but perhaps I will have more courage for future pieces. How sweet it is to do a project for myself!

Great Honour

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of quilting one of Debby Kemball's quilts. The quilt is comprised of the blocks she used as samples in her book, Beautiful Botanicals. Debby gave me 'free rein' on the quilting designs. I chose to run a feather design vertically as I know she loves a striped look which also unifies the quilt, creates movement and frames each of her beautiful appliques.

Debby shares a wealth of knowledge in regards to her supplies, techniques and inspiration on her blog.

Inspired

After being on vacation in February and recovering from a hysterectomy I am using my downtime to get inspired. I have chosen five classes at the Machine Quilters Exposition  www.mqxshow.com in Rhode Island, 2 at the CQQ cqq.ca exhibit in Montreal and another at the Vermont Quilt Festival www.vqf.org. There is a tremendous variety at each exhibit making it a challenge to narrow the selections down.

IPad Case

I designed this IPad case using some of the techniques I learned at the Machine Quilters Exposition in 2011. The case is made from silk fabric and stitched with So Fine thread.
